Repairing damaged tarmac without unnecessary resurfacing

H. Evans Road Contractors Ltd repairs damaged tarmac on roads, car parks, yards and commercial access routes across the UK. We assess the affected areas before recommending local repairs or discussing a wider surfacing requirement.

Tarmac can deteriorate in different ways: an entrance may have broken edges, a turning area may develop a worn patch, or previous repairs may begin to break up. A targeted repair focuses on the affected area, provided the adjoining surface is still suitable. The visible damage alone does not always show the full extent of the problem.

At the site visit, we look at the damaged surface and how it is used. The location of the defects, condition of the surrounding tarmac and access for the work help establish the proposed scope. Your written quotation describes the works, so you can distinguish isolated repairs from a more extensive resurfacing project.

What we assess and repair

  • Defined repair areas

Damaged tarmac needs a clear repair boundary. We assess how far deterioration extends, including loose or broken edges, rather than assuming a small visible patch is the only area requiring attention.

  • Preparation and compaction

Preparation, suitable material and compaction are important to a tarmac repair. The work required depends on the condition of the surface and what is found beneath the affected area.

  • Existing joins and levels

Repairs should be considered alongside adjoining tarmac, covers and entrances. Tell us about uneven transitions or recurring damage so these can be assessed as part of the proposed works.

Planning local repairs around daily use

Identify parking spaces, entrances and working routes that cannot be blocked without notice. We aim to minimise disruption, but the repair areas and reopening arrangements need to be agreed for the particular site. Mention delivery times and heavy vehicle movements when discussing the programme.

What to send with your enquiry

Send the site address, approximate repair dimensions and photos showing the damage and surrounding tarmac. Explain whether the same area has been repaired previously and whether water collects nearby. This information helps prepare for the site visit and written quotation.

You can attach up to five site photos when requesting your free quotation.
