Pothole repairs in Birmingham, the Midlands and nationwide

We offer a rapid pothole repair call-out nationwide. Potholes are cut back, cleaned and filled with industry-standard materials, then compacted and sealed so the repair holds up to traffic.

A pothole is more than an untidy patch of road. Broken edges and loose material can make access difficult for vehicles and pedestrians, while water entering the damaged surface can contribute to further deterioration. Repairing the affected area helps restore a more even surface without resurfacing the whole site unnecessarily.

H. Evans Road Contractors Ltd provides nationwide pothole repairs for roads, car parks, farm access routes, retail parks and commercial premises. Whether you have one isolated defect or several damaged areas, a site visit helps establish the extent of the work and whether local repairs are the right approach. The proposed repairs are described in your written quotation.

What the repair involves

  • Cut back to sound edges

The damaged area is cut back to form a defined repair, rather than simply covering the hole. The condition of the surrounding surface matters: crumbling edges may mean the repair needs to extend beyond the most obvious damage.

  • Clean, fill and compact

Loose material is removed and the prepared area is filled with industry-standard material. Compaction is an important part of forming a firm repair that meets the surrounding surface.

  • Seal the repair edges

The edges are sealed as part of the repair. At the site visit, we can also discuss nearby defects so the quotation reflects the areas you want addressed, rather than leaving the scope unclear.

Planning repairs around site access

Tell us which entrances, parking spaces or delivery routes need to remain available, and whether there are busy periods we should know about. We aim to minimise disruption, but access arrangements and the time needed before traffic returns depend on the repair and the site conditions. These should be agreed before work starts.

Risk Assessments and Method Statements supplied before work starts.

What to send with your enquiry

Include the site address, the approximate number of potholes and photos showing both the damage and the wider area. Let us know if the surface is breaking up around the holes, if water collects there, or if the area carries heavy vehicles. Photos help explain the job but do not replace the site visit.

You can attach up to five site photos when requesting your free quotation.
