Keeping farm access routes in working condition

We repair tarmac farm roads and access routes, assessing potholes, broken edges and worn sections. The proposal takes account of the existing surface and the way farm vehicles use the route.

Farm roads can carry a mixture of cars, deliveries and agricultural vehicles. Wear may be concentrated at entrances, narrow edges or sections where machinery turns. A damaged stretch can be especially inconvenient where it is the only access to the yard or buildings.

H. Evans Road Contractors Ltd assesses the road on site and discusses how it is used throughout the working day. Local defects may be suitable for defined repairs, while a longer worn stretch may need a broader surfacing discussion. The written quotation describes the proposed works and helps establish which parts of the route are included.

Suitable for

  • Farm access roads
  • Farm drives
  • Vehicle routes to yards

What we assess and repair

  • Potholes along the access route

Show us all the damaged sections, not just the largest hole. The condition of the surrounding tarmac helps establish the boundaries and extent of the repair areas.

  • Broken margins and entrances

Narrow sections and turning points may have damaged edges. Tell us where machinery regularly travels so the assessment reflects the usable width and the existing surface condition.

  • Worn stretches of tarmac

Where several defects occur along the same stretch, separate patches may not be the only option. We can assess whether more extensive surfacing should be discussed.

Access during farm operations

Let us know about machinery movements, deliveries, livestock-related access and busy seasonal periods. If the road is the only route to the premises, make this clear at the outset. Any restrictions and reopening arrangements need to be agreed for the work and the vehicles using it.

Risk Assessments and Method Statements supplied before work starts.

What to send with your enquiry

Provide the farm address and directions to the affected route, approximate damaged lengths and photos of the road and its edges. Mention heavy vehicles, previous repairs and places where water collects. Include any alternative access that may be available during works.

You can attach up to five site photos when requesting your free quotation.
